FAQ

Honest answers.

How fit do I need to be?+

If you can comfortably ride 40km at 22kph, you'll be fine on most rides. We'll always tell you the planned distance and pace in advance.

What bike do I need?+

A road bike in good working order. Gravel and endurance bikes are fine on most routes. Mountain bikes aren't really suited to our rides.

Do I need to wear club kit?+

Not on your first rides. Once you're a full member you can order kit in our next batch order.

What if I can't make 7am on a Sunday?+

Try our Cockfosters branch at 8am, or join one of our midweek day rides or summer evening rides — most members mix and match.

Is there a junior section?+

No — PBCC is registered with British Cycling as an adults-only club, so members need to be 18 or over. It keeps our rides simple and sociable, and there are some excellent youth cycling clubs in Hertfordshire if you're looking for one.

Do I need a helmet?+

Yes — a helmet is mandatory on all club rides, no exceptions.
