Potters Bar Cycling Club

About the club

A club for riders who want
company on the road.

Potters Bar Cycling Club was founded in 2021 by a handful of local riders who wanted a regular, sociable group to roll out with. That's still exactly what we are.

We're not a race team. We're not a coffee club either. We're a proper club — with a constitution, a calendar on Spond, and a kit — that takes its riding seriously without taking itself too seriously.

Our riders range from returning beginners building back into shape, to long-time roadies pushing four-figure annual mileage. What unites us is a love of the roads around Potters Bar and Hertfordshire and a belief that a Sunday morning is best spent on two wheels.

What you can expect

Four things we promise — and one we don't.

No 01

We ride together

No one gets dropped. If the group splits at a hill, we regroup at the top.

No 02

We ride safely

Two abreast where the road allows. Hand signals. Call hazards. Look after one another.

No 03

We ride year-round

Sun, drizzle or low winter sun — only ice keeps us off the road.

No 04

We finish with a brew

Or a pint, depending on the ride. The café stop is part of the ride — but joining in is optional.

And the one we don't…

We don't promise it'll be easy. The roads around here are hillier than they look — and that's exactly why we love them.

The constitution

Properly run.
Properly fun.

We're a constituted club with elected officers, an annual AGM, transparent finances, and a charity commitment. Read the constitution before you apply — it spells out who we are and how we run.
